IV & GA Sedation
Sedation dentistry, sometimes known as “sleep dentistry,” can help patients who normally have difficulty doing so to completely relax through their appointments. This treatment is ideal for those with dental fears or those who have difficulty getting numb. It can also turn multiple appointments into a single visit. With General Anesthesia inhalation and sedative agents are used to put the patient to sleep. The airway is protected and the vital signs are monitored by a board certified medical doctor and anesthesia specialist. GA is often the choice for extensive dental work.
IV Sedation is the state of the art technique for comprehensive control of pain and anxiety in dentistry. IV sedation uses sedative drugs that are delivered through the blood stream This treatment is performed and monitored by our on site medical doctor. It is done many times a day, every day. To perform advanced sedative techniques, special university training and clinical experience are required and regulated by the Dental Board of Illinois.
Sedation dentistry reduces the body’s natural tendency to tense muscles while stressed. This can create a more effective dental visit, allowing for much more to be accomplished, while eliminating concerns about discomfort.
