Dental Implants

Today's dental implants are changing the way people live! With implants, people are rediscovering the comfort and confidence to smile, eat, speak, laugh and enjoy life. Dental implants are designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth. A person with implants regains the ability to eat virtually anything and can smile with confidence, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours have been preserved. Implants consist of small titanium posts which are placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. The bone bonds with the titanium, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth. In addition to restoring a natural appearance in the mouth, implants can help preserve facial structure, preventing bone deterioration, which typically occurs when teeth are missing.
Metal Free Dentistry

Metal fillings are obsolete. Amalgams expand and contract when exposed to temperature changes. This movement weakens the tooth wall and can cause fractures. It also allows bacteria to enter and cause decay. Amalgam also contains mercury, a toxic element. Today’s tooth-colored composites are safer, stronger and more attractive than metal. Composites are more conservative restorations than metal, bonding directly to the tooth, requiring far less drilling of healthy tooth structure.
Periodontics

Periodontal disease are infections that affect the tissues and bone that support teeth. Periodontal disease is caused by bacteria in plaque that produces toxins and enzymes that irritate the gums and cause inflammation. To prevent periodontal or gum disease you should have good oral hygiene, brushing twice a day and flossing or using another interdental cleaner twice a day, will help reduce plaque film.
You may have increased risk for periodontal disease if you:
- Smoke or chew tobacco
- Use certain medications such as steroids, anti-epilepsy drugs, cancer therapy drugs, blood pressure drugs, and oral contraceptives
- Have diabetes, blood cell disorders, HIV infections, or AIDS
- Puberty, pregnancy, or oral contraceptives
- Genetics
Periodontal Disease can affect your whole body. Tooth loss is not the only potential problem posed by periodontal diseases. Research suggests that there may be a link between periodontal disease and other health concerns such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, stroke, bacterial pneumonia, and increased risk during pregnancy.
How do I know if I have Periodontal Disease?
- Gums bleed easily
- Red, swollen, or tender gums
- Gums that have pulled away from teeth
- Persistent bad breath
- Pus between teeth and gums
- Loose or separating teeth
- Change in bite fit
- A change in the fit of partial dentures
